TECHNOLOGY
3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) also known as additive manufacturing, utilizes an automated process of seamlessly layering concrete via robotic arms and technology, creating a solid, monolithic and impressive structure, while also minimizing waste up to 95%.
Four key areas in real estate that CPH3D will be disrupting for the betterment of the industry and the community; Sustainable Design, Durable Design, Attainable Design, and Freedom of Design.
Sustainable Design
When designing structures, the benefits of 3D printing are incredible when sustainability is the topic. A few items that stand out are as follows:
Our project’s do not require any use of timber for structural components, and minimize use of non-renewable resources; the concrete “mix” is developed to significantly minimize environmental impacts compared with traditional block materials due to less processing required, and a reduced carbon footprint for their logistics to get on site.
The typical jobsite may have anywhere from 1-3 dumpsters of waste left over once a property is framed and roofed. As of now, the amount of waste from our technology can fit in the back of a pickup truck! And we continue to improve, heading towards a 100% waste free process.
Current construction practices leave projects vulnerable to environmental casualty, including wind, water and wood destroying organisms (primarily termites and fungi). Structures that utilize 3D printing technology are stronger and less prone to wind damage, and are also more water resistant than traditional construction. Longer lasting properties lead to less upkeep, which results in less materials and maintenance required over a building’s life-cycle and lower total cost of ownership.
Durable Design:
CPH3D builds homes that are structurally superior in both longevity and strength, making it an ideal solution for areas that are prone to severe weather.
Hurricanes have destroyed thousands of homes built with antiquated methods not capable of today’s storm intensities.
Traditional block has a strength of 15lbs/sq inch while CPH3D walls are approximately 4x that strength, without increasing costs.
Attainable Design:
Real estate in America -especially Florida - is feeling the squeeze. There are core economic issues currently in real estate that CPH3D will help to solve.
Florida is experiencing rapid growth due to varying economic and societal circumstances, which has caused a severe shortage of available housing. CPH will be producing quality homes that people – Floridians and new state citizens alike – will love.
While at the time of this writing, many materials have slowed their rocket-hot price ascension, the fact is still that materials are expensive and this cost is pushed onto the consumer. CPH utilizes materials that are not hard to source, and generally speaking in abundance.
No matter what industry you look at in Florida- and most of the nation- everyone is feeling the labor shortage. These shortages cause price increases due to natural supply/demand factors. CPH addresses these labor issues through the technology of 3D printing with reduced labor both in terms of workers needed and total working hours.
The average home has approximately 15% waste in block construction. CPH3D is working towards zero waste, and any waste collected and donated to organizations that work with beach erosion prevention.
